Band member bios

Jaime Valentine - guitar, vocals

Born in New York City, veteran vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/composer Jaime Valentine is now a proud resident of Toronto. He began his musical life playing the New York club scene with his all-original band Majesty in the early 1980s. In the '90s FarQ, his next original outfit, played countless dates. The band was featured on Q104.3 The Underground Garage. As the band grew in popularity, FarQ performed alongside Don Henley at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. His original songs and spectacular voice have received raves. Jaime has studied with legendary vocal coach Katie Agresta (Jon Bon Jovi, Cyndi Lauper, Annie Lennox). Jaime is co-founder of renowned Beatles band OBLADI, which has performed hundreds of shows around New York. He is a founding member of the NY-based Palisades All-Star Revue with Lynda Kraar. Jaime is also an experienced producer and recording engineer.

Lynda Kraar - guitar, bass, vocals

Lynda hit the Toronto bar scene in 1979 with her bands The Marksmen (R&B) and Culture Shock (reggae). She also performed in smaller combos around town. Lynda moved to Asbury Park, NJ, in 1985 where she formed a band and recorded with notable musicians bassist Al "Doc" Berger (Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes), award-winning blues guitar hero Billy Hector, and drummer Vinnie “Mad Dog” Lopez (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band). After moving to Freehold she founded a country and bluegrass band called Blue Moo. She also played with the likes of her neighbor, jazz guitar virtuoso Tal Farlow, and Texas State champion fiddler and mandolinist Tiny Moore (Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys). She was a bassist for many Philadelphia Folk Festival performers. She sang alto with NYC's Jewish People's Philharmonic Chorus and spent 15 years with Musicians on Call, performing at bedside in NYC hospitals. Lynda played Renaissance lute in the New York Continuo Collective, and appeared at the Boston Early Music Festival. She is a veteran of Renaissance music lute camps, and is an alumna of Tommy Emmanuel’s guitar camp in Memphis. She performed with Tommy Emmanuel at the BergenPAC. Lynda is also a composer and an award-winning fiction and non-fiction writer. Lynda is the bass player for Toronto band The Original Pairs.

Doug McClement - bass, vocals

Kingston-born, Toronto-based Doug is Vice President/Chair for the Audio Production Program at Harris Institute in Toronto. One of Canada’s most prominent concert recording engineers, Doug has won two Gemini Awards and three Canadian Screen Awards for best sound in a television variety special. Doug is President of LiveWire Remote Recorders, Canada’s premier mobile audio facility and has engineered in remote locations like Nigeria, Jamaica, Germany, Cyprus, Spain and Kuwait. He has received platinum albums for Blue Rodeo’s “Diamond Mine” and “Five Days in July”; and “Bargainville” for Moxy Fruvous. He has recorded over 5000 concerts in Canada and the USA over the past four decades. Doug was chief concert recording engineer for MuchMusic from 1984-2002, and was also part of the audio crew for the past five Olympic Games. He's recorded history-making major arena performances that make up "the soundtrack of your life.” But most of all, Doug enjoys playing bass and singing the songs he loves with the Mid-Century Modernes.

Kevin Bell - guitar, vocals

During the mid- to late 1970s, Montreal-born Kevin toured and contributed to recordings with the renowned Toronto band, Edward Bear. He has performed with British guitarist/session player Chris Spedding (the Pretenders, Robert Gordon, Roxy Music, Elton John, Brian Eno, Jack Bruce). In 1980 Kevin played with Johnny Winter in Miami. He has played on recording sessions by internationally renowned producers including Bob Ezrin, Jack Richardson and Doug Riley. Kevin co-produced the album "Stubborn Ghost" by Norm Hacking, a project that received a Canadian music award nomination.

Rob Andrews - drums

Milton resident Rob is a veteran recording and live drummer in the greater Toronto area. He has played in bands with Doug McClement and Kevin Bell for decades. A lefty drummer, he has a special fondness for rare and old drums, and continues to grow his drum collection.

The Mid Century Modernes Thank you is an understatement to express our appreciation for your talents! We loved every minute of the live music at our client appreciation event! We still have people compliment us on the band and ask where we found such awesome entertainment. Everything was beyond our expectations, and we had high expectations!
